B schools in Singapore...

Hi everyone...

New to this forum and beginning to love it. Apart from the usual US schools
I'm looking to apply in Canada/Aus/Singapore.

Wanted to see if there are folks who could give feedback about the following schools, apart from the rankings.

Nanyang Business School
National Univ. of Singapore

Welcome to the community!

I'd like to learn more about Singaporean b-schools myself. I've heard that some of them are pretty good, and one in particular has a formal relationship with Wharton (I think)...

There is one more...Insead...it was ranked 7 globally by Financial Times.
The course was an intensive one year program (too much for me to handle).
Its a French school with a campus in Singapore.

Before I comment on above mentioned universities,
I'd like to know where are you located, and where you want to work, post MBA.


I dont know about Warton but NYU's exchange program including with Columbia and NTU's tie ups with Cornell.

Right now I'm in the Mid-West...working in IT(3yrs)...planning for Operations Management area post-MBA...

I'm interested to know your post MBA plans because these schools dont have good placement reputation beyond their regional area.

I hate to write such pessimist replies.
comparing these two schools NUS is better than NTU (oops you dont want ranking)

I've no good impression about Australian SCHOOLS as well. Australia dont welcome foreigners. & I dont know the schools' reputation n brand OUTSIDE their country.


BTW i know a pretty much about NUS Singapore.

Hi, this is what I've heard about　the schools in Singapore.

The University of Chicago, Singapore campus:

Amazing in finance, but cost is prohibitive to many locals.

INSEAD:

Focuses more on 'soft' management skills, seems to be the top choice of many locals.

NUS:

Very academic, very demanding. But also has very aggressive placement policies.

NTU:

More practical, applicable curriculum. Has tie-up with MIT-Sloan. Also apparently has one of the only Strategy concentrations in Singapore, if that's what you're interested in.

no problem. I've also just discovered that there are other business schools in Singapore, like ESSEC of france, although i haven't heard anything about them yet.

a lot of the schools have a lot of different tie-ups, too, so u may want to look at that. NUS for eg. has an IMBA dual degree programme with PKU in China. Insead has an EMBA dual degree programme with Tsinghua in China.

I'd also think about why you want to come to Singapore. Generally, Singapore is like Asia-lite. You'll survive speaking only English, but the value of your MBA will probably not be as high if you want to work here because most of the locals go to local MBA schools. You'll be far better off getting an MBA in the US and then coming here, since you don't have to adjust to the language anyway.

If you want in on the China pie, then go to China and learn the language already. That seems to be the most important thing as far as working in China is concerned.[/quote]
