Need advice on GMAT test taking strategy

by vinviper1 » Tue May 06, 2008 7:14 am
Hi all,

I am hoping others that have the same type of problem can help out. I find when I do the tests timed I rush and cant sit back a bit to look at the concepts...think about the "body of knowledge" that I've studied, and they go for the answer. I find that I get cauhgt up in trying to make up for lost time and miss then question. When I review it, I can get probably 65% of the ones I got wrong before looking at the answer. This is very much weighted to the Quant section.
So yes, I should slow down, but time has been tight in my practice sessions. Anyone going through or has gone through a similiar type of problem? Tips?
Thanks for all the assistance.

Pacing is a very difficult thing to master, unfortunately there are no real easy answers for addressing your problem. Progress will come only from LOTS of practice and rigorous analysis of your errors.

Slowing down is a good strategy, and being tight on time is okay. Your speed will naturally improve as you progress. Also, it's good to have no time left at the end of a section (if that's the case), that means you paced yourself well.

Take a look at the resources area and do some searching on pacing in the Google search on the top right of this page. There are plenty of tips to help you.

Good luck!
