What is the value of v^3 – k^3?
(1) v k > 0
(2) v – k = 6

A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

I've tried everything but I'm unable to get the right answer. I'll post the OA after some discussions.

Is the question value of (v^3-k^3)?

I see multiple values for v and k that satisfy the 2 statements independently and together. I must be missing something here....

a^3-b^3 = (a-b) (a^2+b^2+ab)

Still there is lot of missing info since we dont know the value of (a^2+b^2+ab) nor a or b

Please confirm the question if possible. I am going wiht E) with the question as is

I've corrected the question

My answer was E as well - OA was B. I had no idea how they got it. Just wanted to get a second opinion.

Rohan, I would not waste my time to understand why a BOGUS OA states an illogical result.

V=7, K=1 v-k = 6 and the result is 342

v=8, K=2 v-k - 6 and the result is NOT 342!

So the answer can not be B.

Choose E.
