According to some, military spending can benefit both weapons manufacturers and the communities in which such businesses are located, and possibly as well generate growth in industries like electronics, transportation, and communications.

IMO E

"such as" is used in the GMAT to introduce examples and "electronics, transportation and communications" must be seen as examples of "industries".

like is used for similar things....

where in such as is used in GMAT for introducing examples.

i thought they are comparing industries,so the usage of "like" as appropriate...
