Hi,
From(1): x-y=1/2.
x= 1,y= 1/2 will satisfy
x= -1/2,y= -1 will satisfy
Insufficient
From(2) : x/y>1
x and y have to be of the same sign
Insufficient
Combining:x=y+1/2
x/y>1 =>(y+1/2)/y>1 => 1+2/y>1. So, 2/y must be positive => y is positive. As x=y+1/2. x is also positive
Sufficient

Hence, C

a)2x-2y=1 or x-y=1/2
x,y can be +ve or -ve. (x=1.5,y=1 or x=-1,y=-1.5)
insufficient.
b)x/y>1
x,y can be +ve or -ve. (x=1.5,y=1 or x=-1.5,y=-1)
insufficient.
a&b) x=1/2+y
(1/2+y)/y>1 or 1/2y>0 or y>0
As y>0, x>0 and sufficient.
