Hi guys, I am a senior in college looking forward, and was hoping to get a heads up on where I stand and how I can better my chances before applying for a MBA in a couple of years. Thank you for your help!
Harvard/Stanford undergrad
3.6 in Economics major (cum laude)
Going to do banking at Morgan Stanley
On pace to get a 750-770 GMAT
I'm planning to found a community service organization.
I know that there are many people with similar credentials who apply for MBAs and am worried that the number accepted to both Harvard and Stanford is only around 50 per year (this seems to imply that the selection process is pretty random if these schools are selecting almost completely different candidates).
Ideally I would like to go to Harvard, Stanford, or Wharton after 2 years of banking. Do you think my chances would be substantially improved if I did a third year at a different office of Morgan Stanley (e.g. energy banking in houston), or if I did 2 years of private equity also? Would an improvement of 20 points or so on the GMAT increase my chances substantially?
