Hello

Can you please evaluate my profile and assess my chances of getting admitted to one of the following B - schools?

First choices
IMD
Cambridge
HEC
Cranfield
RSM

Second choices
Warwick
ESADE

My profile is as follows:

Personal:
Indian, Male, 29 years, Married.
Current location - Europe

GMAT:
Score - 680
Quant - 47
Verb - 40

Educational background
10th and 12th grade - 87%, English medium schools
Special - Topper in my school in 12th grade. Scholarship for attaining high percentages in 10th and 12th

UG - Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications with 65% from a Rank 30 University in India

Professional Exp:
Almost 6 years of experience as an IT consultant in a Top tier firm in India. Experience in Banking and Financial services domain.

I think my professional exp will be my strongest point, some points:
- almost 3.5 years of International experience, working onsite as a lead Software Engineer for a Swiss Bank
- promoted after first two years of my job, high chances of promotion in the next cycle
- awarded twice by my company. 'Kudos' award at offshore and 'Rising Star of the Quarter', Q3 2009 at onsite
- first onsite assigment as lead co-ordinator for a development project.
- trained and mentored more than 40 new associates while at offshore
- developed an e-learning site for our company's internal learning program
- currently working as lead Software Engineer in the Bank's Trade management domain.

Extra- Curricular:
- I attended professional courses in painting and Indian music while at school
- District level swimmer
- Won prizes at sports(football), singing competitions in UG college
- School captain for consecutive 4 years. Lead school to victory in inter-school parade
- Organized social events for my company
- Member of Orator's Club
- Amateur photographer
- Taking foreign language classes.

Application Essays and Recommendations:
- Preparing essays
- I can get strong recommendations from my current client contacts/managers.

It would be of much help if i receive some feedback on my admission chances to the schools mentioned. Should i try to increase my GMAT score? Engage in more social activity? As i really can't do much about my low UG scores.
Also kindly recommend other reputed European B schools where my case will be competetive.

Thanks in advance,
Swagata

You should be competitive at those schools. Your GMAT score may fall below the posted average at some, but should be well within the 80% range. Your undergrad marks are fine---not top of the class, but coupled with your solid GMAT, you should assuage any concerns that you can't handle the academics. Even though you are applying from a very deep pool (Indian IT male), you can differentiate yourself with your work achievements and you also actually seem to have some good involvement in activities outside work, but could benefit from more which benefit your community. If you can weave a compelling story for why you want the MBA, particularly at your chosen schools, you should be competitive. I like that you are applying to several schools. In a year like the last couple, better to err on the side of a couple more applications to be safe.
