21 days until GMAT: My Question Thread

by silver9 » Tue Aug 09, 2011 6:37 pm
Ok I have 21 days until I take the GMAT so I will be posting any questions I have here. Ok I will start with 2 problem questions.

1) If 0 < r < 1 < s < 2, which of the following must be less than 1?

i) r/s
ii) rs
iii) s-r

a) i only
b) ii only
c) iii only
d) i and ii
e) i and iii

2) For every positive even integer N, the function H(N) is defined to be the product of all the even integers from 2 to N inclusive. If P is the smallest prime factor of H(100)+1 then P is?

a) Between 2 and 10
b) Between 10 and 20
c) Between 20 and 30
d) Between 30 and 40
e) Greater than 40

Could you please explain what the second question is asking me to do because I really do not understand it at all.

1. It helps to produce a number line to see it more clearly.

i) Since r is always gonna be smaller than s, clearly r/s must be <1.
ii) For example: 0.9x1.9 is not <1 (condition broken)
iii) For example: 1.9-0.1=1.8 is not <1 (condition broken)

The correct answer is A.

Again, go with a number line IMO. All relatively straight-forward once you get the hang of it.

Edit: Deleted my answer to question 2, because I don't want to do it wrong and confuse you.

Make sure you search for past threads when posting questions, there is a good chance an answer exists if it is a GMAT Prep question like this one.

1st question--> imo d
The more you suffer before the test, the less you will do so in the test! :)
