23 y/o persuing an MBA

by Ctoyloy » Fri Apr 20, 2012 9:30 am
Hi, im from Panama in central america. im 22 soon to turn 23 and im applying to different BS.
I havent taken my gmat test yet im scheduled to take it on July on average im scoring 570 with a gpa of 2.88 (Panama scale) which is close to 3.7 american scale, business major.

My concern is regarding to my work experience, here in Panama people start working since they are 18 so ive been doing. Ive had very good jobs (all full time) and several promotions, actually im working at one of the most important orgnizations in the country, worldwide recognized. im soon to be 5 years on total work experience and handling a full school workload at the same time(considering here in panama a full time student is anyone who has more than 15 credits per quarter). I also have a strong extra curricular file such as volunteer cordinator for the united nations locally.

Im considering Penn State, Georgetown, Purdue, Notre Dame and Michigan State. Which could be my chances of been accepted at this programs and any useful advice you guys could give me.

Thanks for your time.

With four years of experience and working in a top firm in your country, you should be all right. The one thing that you could work to improve is your GMAT score. You could apply with a 570, but it's not gonna make you a very attractive candidate. Georgetowns AVERAGE GPA is more than 100 points higher at 680, Penn State's is at 650, etc.... So if I were you I would spend the next two months studying for the GMAt and take a course as well.
