Help needed !!

by mvikred » Sat Oct 03, 2009 7:24 pm
Here's my story.

I've given GMAT before and I'm giving it another shot now. After 2 months, and in this time I've spent enough time to learn all the strategies and concepts. My main issue has been Verbal. I usually score 48-50 in quant, but Verbal is where I screw up.

Even though I did all the preparation for Verbal, when I do end up taking the practice tests on Manhattan GMAT, I get the same verbal score as before. If anyone can help me resolve this mental block to verbal, I'd be really grateful.

When I do the questions from OG, I get most of them right, with an accuracy of 90% + . So I don't know where I seem to be going wrong. I have my GMAT in another 10 days from now. Any help would be appreciated. ASAP please !!

Not all companies get their verbal exactly GMAT-style. If you say that you get 90%+ accuracy in the OGs, then I say you're fine. Maybe the MGMAT format does not exactly resonate to you, but that doesn't really matter as long as you do good with official stuff.

However, bear in mind that most people agree that MGMAT scores are the better predictor of performance as compared to other CATs developed by prep companies (GMATprep is excluded here).

I would say focus on stuff you're having trouble with for the next few days and don't forget to relax before the big day.
