I think it's B. Individual self interests cannot lead to community self interest.

C looks good to me, self interest could lead to the pursuit of truth which makes the discussion flawed!

B and C are close calls , but the word scientists in the premises is directing a community therefore B seems incorrect....but there is no reason for assuming self intrest will never lead to pursuit of truth........
i wud go with C
