Hi,
I have appeared for the GMAT on Nov 4th. However, i got a dismal score of 540. Im planning to retake the test on 8th Dec, although i havent studied much. On this attempt, im planning to only use the Official guides & GMAT Prep tests. I may use MGMAT to polish my Quant skills. Is there a particular timeline one should follow to score better on the next test? Is it advisable to give the test so soon? (only about 17 days of preparation)

Well, you are asking a very generalized query. The time taken is different for different individuals. However, if you do study hard and you have a solid base on Math, 17 days is more than sufficient.Best of luck.
