Looks like you blindly copied the question from somewhere and missed the image of the fraction.

(1 - 2/3) = 1/3 of the bulb were returned.
Hence, total number of bulbs purchased = 160*3 = 480

60% cost of 160 bulbs = $96
100% cost of 480 bulbs = $(96*100*480)/(160*60) = $480

Hence, total money spent = $(480 - 96) = $384

The correct answer is C.[/spoiler]

Since 2/3 of the bulbs were needed, the returned bulbs represent 1/3 of the original purchase.
Thus, the returned bulbs cost 1/3 of the total paid prior to the reimbursement.
We can plug in the answers, which represent the money spent to illuminate the gym.

Answer choice C: 384.
Since 96 was reimbursed, total spent before reimbursement = 384+96 = 480.
Cost of the returned bulbs = (1/3)*480 = 160.
Reimbursement = .6*160 = 96. Success!

The correct answer is C.
