powers and multiples

X, Y, R, S are 4 positive integer, R<S, X^r = Y^s
i. X is a multiple of Y

ii Y is a multiple of X

iii.S is a multiple of R

A. Only i

B. Only ii

C. Only iii

D. ii & iii

E. i&ii

We could take 64 as an example for this question. Can any other example be taken? The ans is A

Answer is A - Only 1.

I picked numbers, first R = 1, and S = 2. Then X = 16 and Y = 4. From here, statments 1 and 3 looked OK. I was suspicious about statment 3 ALWAYS being true though, so I picked different numbers; R = 2 and S = 3.

I got X = 8 and Y = 4. Statement 1 still holds, Statement 2 is never true (because R < S), and Statement 3 is sometimes true.
