Hi race2mba,

GMAT SC questions are known to test a variety of "2 part parallel phrases" on Test Day. Some you probably know ("either...or" and "neither...nor", for example), while others are rarer and you'll learn by repetition.

This SC uses the word "so" which can be paired up in a couple of ways; the two ways that you should know are:

"So...that"
"So...as to"

Since the SC starts with "so", I'd immediately check the answer choices for this pattern.

You could also look for the parallel phrase "so......, so.......,"

Both these rules point to E.
