In this the correct answer is that each one is sufficient.


From option 1 we can find the no. of dogs.


But how to find the no. of dogs from option 2 alone?

It is given that 1/3 are dogs and 1/5 are birds
let total = x
option B - Tells us dogs are 20 more than birds
setup a equation 1/3(x) = Dogs ; 1/5(x) = Birds
1/3(x) = 20 + 1/5(x)
1/3(x) - 1/5(x) = 20
solve for x
2/15(x) = 20
x = 150
1/3(150) = dogs = 50
