I chose B, although C was close bet. I used negation and thought if there are some reasons that the leak prevention technology would be ineffective, the argument falls apart. Pls explain what you think.

PS - Looks like a different version of this CR question is already posted, but there is not much of explanation in there.

Now, here the reason C is the best answer coz it defends the argument by confirming the other possibility or by taking the other possibility in account.
what is the proposed technology works fine for the leaks. then what about the other possible sources. it might be possible that there are ohter sources as well which can damage the fish population.. so here correct answer removes that possibility and hence the correct one..

I agree, its C. Even if there is not leak, polution can still be caused by installing pipelines.

using negation, bot B and C are capable of weakening the conclusion...can someone explain why not B?

Without the answer i would have marked B.

But i guess B tells is new Technology is leak proof. Which i guess is assumed with the statement itself.

C comes into picture then by negating all others.

more thoughts please.
