A, B out for 'sitting' inapprorpiately modifes 'a firm..developed
E - 'is sitting' : not ok (oyster sitting below the surface now...nop)
C - out for lack of llelism

IMO D.

In an attempt to produce premium oysters, a firm in Scotland has developed a prototype of a submersible oyster farm, sitting below the surface of the ocean, and it provides ideal conditions for the mollusks' growth.

A. farm, sitting below the surface of the ocean, and it provides :Incorrect-->In "comma + Verbing" verbing modifies the sub of previous clause. So sitting is modifying "a firm in scotland" which is not the intended meaning.. hence rejected.

B. farm, sitting below the surface of the ocean for providing : Incorrect -->For the same reason as A.

C. farm that sits below the surface of the ocean and providing :Incorrect: parallelism error

D. farm that sits below the surface of the ocean and provides :CORRECT

E. farm that is sitting below the surface of the ocean and it provides : Second best, but still lengthy.

A. farm, sitting below the surface of the ocean, and it provides --- adverbial modifier..verb+ing i.e sitting means a firm in scotland is sitting...
B. farm, sitting below the surface of the ocean for providing --- adverbial modifier..verb+ing i.e sitting means a firm in scotland is sitting...

C. farm that sits below the surface of the ocean and providing -- sits and providing are not parallel

D. farm that sits below the surface of the ocean and provides --> creap of the crap...Best choice

E. farm that is sitting below the surface of the ocean and it provides - sitting and provides is not parallel
