Martha has 5 dogs and 4 cats. She takes each animal seperately to a daily walk. She can take the animals to a walk to the park or to the barber shop. How many different options for a walk with a single animal does Martha have?

Does these kind of simple problems occur in GMAT? When these simple problems are asked, i ponder on the answer choices and end up with the wrong one with the suspicion whether GMAT asks simple questions?

My simple thinking is that:

Martha has 9 different animals
Two places to go

Thus she has 9 x 2 options of walking with one animal to a single place.

GMAT does have some simple question. I usually get math score of 50 but sometimes end up doing some simple questions at the end of my math section (in GMATPrep).

The number of choices for the animals is 9, and the number of locations is 2, so the total number of options is 9 x 2 = 18.
