Unlike its fellow baltic nations, Latvia and Lithuania, Estonia grew at an astonishing rate economically in the late 1900s, and at the end of the decade earned itself a place on the fast track to join the union.
In the underlined part, this sentence clearly has a pronoun error ( itself is ambiguous referring to decade when it has to be Estonia ).
Is the phrase astonishing rate economically right ?

seems right to me. Estonia is the subject, modified by unlike ... -- also, Estonia comes at the right place and the comparison is also right.
