P(r) = 8r/(1-r)

P(3) = -6

-6 = 8r/(1-r) => Solving this will give r = -3

I am sorry... result of switching between scratch paper and typing

P(3)=-12

P(r) = P(3)/2 = -6

Hope this clears the doubt
