Absolute value

Of the five coordinates associated with points A, B, C, D, and E on the number line, which has the greatest absolute value?

A= -2
B= -1
C= 0
D= 1
E= 2

This is a question from the OG. The answer given in the book is A, -2.

I thought that the absolute value of -2 or +2 would be equal to 2. So wouldnt both A and E be correct?

You're surely looking at one of the earlier printings of the Official Guide -- the diagram for that question wasn't printed correctly. In the correct diagram, E is slightly less than 2. If you have that early printing, you can download a pdf file with all of the official corrections. If you google

gmac official guide corrections

it should be the first link that comes up. The only people who would need that file are those who have an early printing - the errors were fixed in later versions of the 11th edition.
