Hi race2mba,

This question is actually a great example for the EMPOWERgmat strategy TEST IT. Since we're told that X CAN'T = 0, we can make X anything else.

Let's choose X = 2

When you plug in 2, you'll end up with 2/2 = 1
Answers C and E both match, so it has to be one of those two answers

Now let's choose X = -2
When you plug in -2, you'll end up with 2/-2 = -1
Since we narrowed it down to C and E earlier, the only answer that matches is E!

Final answer: E

The EMPOWERgmat course has an entire section and series of Modules devoted to this straight-forward strategic approach. Since this tactic works on up to 2/3 of Quant questions, it's really a "must have" if your goal is a 700+.
