og ps 124

by simba12123 » Fri Oct 31, 2008 8:52 am
According to a car dealer sales report, 1/3 of cars sold during certain period were sedans and 1/5 of the cars were station wagons. If n were station wagons sold during that period, how many sedans, in Terms of N, were sold?

A.2/15N
B. 3/5N
c.5/3N
d.5/2N
e.15/2N

qa is d

i chose 30 as a sample smart number. I got 10 sedans and new n is 6 station wagons.

so plugging in 6 for n yields an answer of 10 for choice c. I really am making a small mistake yet critical.

I think you copied the question incorrect.

They key to this question is in bold:

Q: According to a car dealer's sales report, 1/3 of the cars sold during a certain period were sedans and 1/5 of the other cars sold were station wagons. If N station wagons were sold during that period, how many sedans, in terms of N, were sold:

So that means if you chose 30 as your total cars:

10 sedans are sold

Of the remaining 20 cars 1/5 are station wagons. So that would mean 4 Station wagons.

N=4

5 * 4 / 2 = 10

Answer would be D

I am learning that 80% of my mistakes are from missing details or not reading the question carefully enough. I stand corrected and will follow through on my details.

Its a shame to leave points on the table for no reason other than missing a few words in the passage.

Thank you!
