x/y gives a remainder of 6 and a/b gives a remainder of 9.quantskillsgmat wrote:x,y,a and b are positive integers.when x is divided by y remainder is 6.when a is divided by b remainder is 9.which of the following is not possible value of y+b.

Now remainder is always less than the divisor, because if the remainder is greater than the divisor, it means we have the wrong quotient.
So, y > 6 and b > 9
So, y + b > 15
The correct answer is E.
