When 777 is divided by positive integer n, the remainder is 77, how many possibilities are there for n ?

a. 2
b. 3
c. 4
d. 5
e. 6

777 = nk + 77

700 = nk

k could be any number

n has to be a factor of 700 greater than 77

700* 1 = 700
350* 2 = 700
175*4 = 700
140*5 = 700
100*7 = 700

Hence 5.

700 = 2 * 350 = 2 * 5 * 70 = 2 * 5 * 7 * 10 = 2*2*5*5*7

700
350 (=2*5*5*7) 2
175 (=5*5*7) 4
140 (=2*2*5*7) 5
100 (=2*2*5*5) 7

next
70 (=2*5*7) 10
50 (=2*5*5) 14
35 (=5*7) 20
20 (=2*2*5) 35
..
