I am wondering what the general consensus is regarding the use of LSAT questions, and the like, for the purposes of studying Critical Reasoning. I find documents such as 1000CR, which incidentally contains more LSAT questions than retired GMAT questions, not very useful because the format of the questions is so much different from the official format. There seems to be a glut of GMAT material from unofficial sources, and a dearth of official material in comparison. I don't want to get accustomed to too much unofficial material now that I have a solid base and I am looking for some more challenging questions. Any suggestions or thoughts?

What is a "good" GMAT question anyways?

I found that document just 'drifting' on the net. I hear its bad. I put it in the trash bin. :-)

LSAT CR questions, if they are official material, are as good a test of your logic as you are likely to get. I personally rank them this way:

1) OG material
2) material adapted from OG material (this is what all the famous non-OG sources have)
3) material from other tests (like the LSAT)
4) outdated sources, the internet, roommates, people yelling things out of the windows on the bus

1 and 2 prepare you best for most GMAT questions, but keep in mind the test-makers are one step ahead of that -- they develop some less common and new CR question types that don't make it into even #1 right away. First it appears on the test, then it appears in the OG, then it appears in all the major test prep sources.

Doing CR from the LSAT, then, is probably most like reading The New Yorker to help your SC -- it is no substitute for real practice, but can be useful "extra" work.

I am sure you did.

LSAT RC is useful. LSAT CR like the poster above said is as good as reading the new yorker for SC.
