True that Columbia hates re-applicants?

Wondering if it will be worth me re-applying there. No one i know who has re-applied there has been successful while they've managed to get into wharton/booth/kellogg. Also, someone told me that a columbia admissions officer told him, "once and done," strongly implying that re-applicants have very little shot of getting in.

Curious to hear people's thoughts on this.

I don't think any school 'hates' re -applicants. All they are looking for in candidates is improvement in profile.You need to demonstrate to the AD Com how you have improved your self in different areas, what you have accomplished and what you have learned since your rejection last year. Some times, applicants do improve upon their profiles, but they fail to position themselves appropriately in their essays and end up getting dinged. Therefore,instead of blaming it on schools, re- applicants should put in their best efforts to improve themselves.

I have helped re-applicants get into Columbia. But my clients had let some time pass and had materially added to their profiles. MBA programs don't like it when applicants just go for it the very next year with little different. It is a waste of everybody's time.

I know of at least two people :) who have gotten into Columbia as reapplicants (both clients) and within one year of reapplying. There are no set rules. Apply. Make your application much better. Work hard to show advancement and improvement and apply to other schools as well. If it's your dream, it's worth your while.
