Pronouns Confusion!!!

MGMT SC guide 4th edition Page 68 last sentence (that too in bold)

Make sure that every pronoun has only one possible antecedent.

Page 75. answer explanation:

1. When the guests finished their soup they were brought plates of salad.

Explanation : guest is the antecedent of their and they.

Why is this contradiction? Do we need to apply critical reasoning here as well that :

every antecedent may not have only one possible pronoun ?

It is true that EACH pronoun should have ONE antecedent (meaning that 1 pronoun cannot have MORE than 1 antecedent), but it doesn't necessarily follow that multiple pronouns cannot refer back to the SAME antecedent.

There is no contradiction.

"their" and "they" do indeed refer to "guest".
