SC 215--compared to/with

Comparing the Quechans with other Native Americans of the Southwest, the Quechans were singularly uninterested in the accumulation of material wealth or in the crafting of elaborate pottery and basketry.

A. Comparing the Quechans with other Native Americans of the Southwest, the Quechans

B. When you compare the Quechans to other Native Americans of the Southwest, they

C. When other Native Americans of the Southwest are compared to the Quechans, they

D. Comparison to other Native Americans of the Southwest shows that the Quechans

E. Compared with other Native Americans of the Southwest, the Quechans


OA is easy E...but suppose we use compared in in option E..wiil it still be Correct?

MGMAT SC says "GMAT ignores the traditional distinction between Compared to and Compared With

what does it mean?we can use interchangeably?

Do you mean compared in or compared to ?
If compared to, I don't think we can use them interchangeably.

Where does it say that it ignores the traditional distinction ... ?

I have seen all of the SC following the distinction.

compared to is to compare unlike things.. and compared with is used to point out differences between like things..
so i think we cannot use compared to in option E..

Yes MGMAT 4th edition in Idiom chapter specifically say that GMAT does not distinguish between these two.
