EXPERTS PLEASE HELP (GRID)

by AJWILL » Sun Jul 22, 2012 3:37 am
The grid in the picture shows three entries indicated by x, y and z in an additional table. What is the value of x + y + z?
(1) Q + C = 8
(2) B + P = 2(R + C)= 4

Both statements are needed

Translation of question:
What is the value of P + Q + R + B + C + C?

1) Q+C = 8 --- not sufficient, too much unknowns

2) B+P = 4 and R+C = 2
4 + Q + 2 + C -- not sufficient, two unknowns

Unknowns in (2) are addressed in (1), therefore both equations are needed to get an answer of 14

i interpretted it differently.
z=C+P
x=B+Q
y=C+R

1)C+Q=8
doesnt help

2)B+P=2(R+C)=4
R+C=y
so, y=2.
but others?
