Differentiating Factors

Strength of your profile can be very well measured when we compare you to your applicant pool. For example if I compare you with another professional in Automobile Industry, what do you think are the 3 differentiating factors? Is it that you have extensively worked on vendor development, or does your strength lie into your general management skills? Start thinking on these lines.

Leadership

In your current role did you drive projects on your own? Did you motivate a de-motivated team? Did you face a crises situation? Did you take initiative and did good work for client? These are the examples you would have to weave in your essays.

Goal Clarity
You said you wish to work in an operations profile, but what exactly? Do you wish to stay in Automobile industry? Or do you wish to test the waters in a different industry? In a world where 1000s of applicants are applying to B-schools every year, an applicant's goal clarity is of paramount importance. What are your long term goals and in line with these what are your post-MBA short term goals?

Have you given a sincere thought to these questions? If not you should because they would be a part of your MBA essays/interviews for sure.

GMAT

690 is a decent GMAT score. There is no GMAT cut-off as such put by B-schools. Higher the better is the general thumb rule. Asian applicants esp Indians tend to have high GMAT scores. You can get an idea about B-school's GMAT expectations by looking at class profile of last year's admits, where in they give Average GMAT score for last year's intakes.

Hobbies/Extra Curricular

If you do have decent achievements in Extra Curricular then do mention them in your essay in terms of what people or processes you have affected and what impact have you achieved?

Your Questions

- Which U.S. schools should be considered within my profile and GMAT score range?
Operation school such as Michigan Ross, UCLA, Georgia Tech, Kellogg, Berkeley would be good schools to research on further.
- In which college can I receive decent scholarships ?
Depends upon school to school, you will have to do some secondary research on that.
- Which colleges are good match for my profile outside USA

Hi Paritosh,

Regarding your queries:

- Which U.S. schools should be considered within my profile and GMAT score range?
You can target b-schools like: Ross, Kelley, Kenan-Flagler, UCLA, Kellogg & Wisconsin-Madison with avg. GMAT range between 590-730 & good placement in operations.
- In which college can I receive decent scholarships?
Depend on school to school & are gauged by application essays/interviews.
- Which colleges are good match for my profile outside USA?
IE-Spain, ESADE, IESE, Nanyang, NUS,Queen's, Rotman, NTU & HKUST would be better options.

You can also click to https://www.general-ed.com/chances-of-bschool to know your chances in b-school(s).Now the next step, which is most important, is to frame your application essays & work on the interviews. This is where you will get a chance to demonstrate you leadership qualities, professional accomplishments & other aptitude.Even your scholarship depends on how well you position yourself in essays & interviews.

Hope this solve your queries.

Let me know if you have any other concerns.Would be happy to solve. You can even PM me your number to discuss on your profile or selecting b-schools for you.

Good Luck!!
Yash
