Hello,
I'm trying to decide whether to pursue a joint MBA/JD or MBA/MPP. I have a background in journalism and music, and eventually would like to start my own boutique media consulting firm for performing arts organizations (in the short term, I'd like to do general consulting work for one of the major companies). My "dream-big" goal is to establish an international non-profit dedicated to providing children in developing countries education on self-expression (through literacy, the arts, etc.). I'm not interested in being a lawyer, and I'm not interested in making government policy (though I wouldn't mind doing either as a fall-back plan).
I feel like the JD would not only provide a solid background in ethical decision making and problem solving, but also teach me critical business law/intellectual property skills. On the other hand, the MPP would take me farther into the non-profit world, giving me international policy and social development acumen. (However, I've also heard an MBA/JD combo is more impressive/can go further than an MBA/MPP).
Any advice? Also, I have a pretty good grasp of top MBA/JD programs, but I wonder what MBA/MPP programs you might recommend?
Thanks,
Midwestern Applicant
