Hello Stacy,
Your advice has played a significant role in shaping my profile.
I need a few specific question answered. Please spare a moment.
My details:
- GPA, major, school
78% in Anna University, India (Engineering). Good regional reputation.
- GMAT with breakdown
750 (Q49,V42)
- resume highlights, including company name, job titles and promotions
1. Infosys(5 years) --> Won all major awards, 2 promotions
2. Cognizant(2 years) --> Hired two levels above my position in Infosys.
3. Started a peer lending platform in 2015, aimed particularly at unbanked and fixed income class.
- extracurricular involvements
1. Significant. College chairman, IEEE chairman, Green club head in Infosys, CSR core in Infosys.
- awards, patents, publications, etc...
1. Award for excellence Infosys, 2012.
- interesting personal facts - countries lived in, challenges faced, unusual interests
1. Re-built a public school by collecting money.
2. Distributed around 20,000 notebooks to public institution kids.
3. Helped around 20 women entrepreneurs and 50 students using my peer lending platform.
Post-MBA goal:
A product manager in Fin Tech.
Drawbacks:
1. Indian-->Male-->Engineer-->IT-->No travel outside India
Colleges aimed:
Round 1: Cornell, Tepper, NYU stern (Because of the new fin tech course)
Round 2: Darden, Mccombs, Mcdonough.
My questions
1. I wish to apply for Chicago Booth in the first round. Couldn't control my temptation.
Please guide me if I am overly ambitious.
2. Given my drawbacks, am I targeting the right schools, or should I look for more safe schools?
3. For Cornell, I am torn between two-year MBA and one year Tech-MBA. For my long-term goals, a two-year MBA is necessary. But the one-year "tech-MBA" suits my short term goals. Even after speaking with some current students, I am not able to make the call. Please share your opinion on this.
4. I understand that NYU stern is a stretch for me, but they are the first school to provide a complete course focussed on Fin-tech. Is there a way to showcase my profile to satisfy NYU stern ad com.
5. Please provide any other aspects that you wish to share about my profile.
Thanks and regards,
Kumaran.
