I have decided that I want to pursue an MBA and am serious about getting in to a top program. The program at IESE in Barcelona has really caught my attention.
My background:
27 year old Female from Colorado.
I graduated from a good public university in 2007 with a poor gpa. The local community college in my area now offers a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and I decided to take some business courses out of interest and to boost my career. This has spurred my interest in an MBA program. I have taken 3 courses so far and am on track to maintain my 4.o GPA this semester while studying full time at the community college.
I currently work as a Real Estate Broker at a local company. I have exceeded all goals for sales performance my first year and hope to have more growth next year.
Prior to this I have held several miscellaneous jobs including waitressing, housekeeping, etc. I was an administrative assistant for a ski resort for a winter and was a fuels analyst at an energy software company for 7 months before I was laid off. I also participated in a 3 month internship program in Chile where I interned as an assistant in a Spanish speaking real estate company after college. (I am close to fluent in Spanish)
I have high hopes for scoring well on the GMAT- I did very well on my SATs (1370) and have always done well on standardized tests.
Extracurriculars:
I was a 4 year rower for my University and competed nationally. I was the team secretary my senior year. I currently mountain bike competetively. I was involved in animal assisted therapy at a local hospital and elementary school (my current dog is retired) for 2 years. I am super active: ski, run marathons, bike race.(Don't know if there's any way that that will boost my application??)
Do I have a chance of getting in to a good program? What can I be doing now to improve my chances? I would like to apply in a year or two.
FYI: I live in small ski town in Northwest Colorado, so my career options are limited, and it is very common for people here to hold multiple jobs to be able to live here.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.
