Profile Eval

Hello,

Would love your thoughts on following profile:

White male, 26, double nationality US/Latin American country
Gmat: 750 (73rd 47Q/99th 46V 98th Overall) (Worried as this is lopsided)
Fluent in 3 languages, lived in 5 countries, worked in 4 countries

Undergrad: 4.0 in philosophy w/ focus on aesthetics in top university in home country. Obviously, zero quant courses.

WE: Almost two years in MBB, prior to that 3 years in financial consulting (project finance/debt structuring). Both have quant-heavy facets which I can emphasize in recommendations. Also worked as english teacher during college

No structured extra-curriculars but practice sports and play guitar for 10 years+.

Goals: Return to MBB (MBA will be sponsored) afterwards make jump into entrepreneurship/venture capital.

What would be my shot at following target schools: Harvard, Columbia, Kellogg?

Also, is it better to apply as an international or US minority, or it doesn't matter?

Thanks

You have a very lovely profile. 4.0 undergrad man!! That is impressive! That plus your career plus your languages, plus your international work experience, and applying as a minority should all lead you to Top 10 programs. (oh yes, did I forget to mention, Sponsored!! that is a winner!) Just gotta make awesome essays and get awesome recs and you will be fine.

Any reason you are not applying to Stanford, MIT, Booth, Tuck, Haas???
I don't see why you shouldn't...
;)

If you have any follow up Qs just let me know...

Hey Jon,

Thanks a lot for the quick reply.
Couple of follow-up questions:
- Is Columbia 2 year harder for sponsored consultants than J-term, as I've heard?
- Can I "hide" my lack of EC emphasizing the international angle or will that be a deal-break for any school in particular?
- My undergrad wasn't in the US and wasn't quant based. Is it possible to ride this as a differentiating factor rather than a weakness, i.e. academic diversity? I imagine Booth/Wharton wouldn't fall for that.

Thanks again

Sure thing:

- Is Columbia 2 year harder for sponsored consultants than J-term, as I've heard?
Not necessarily. IF it's better for you than a 2 year is fine. It's just that since you don't ned the internship, a J-term makes a bit more sense.

- Can I "hide" my lack of EC emphasizing the international angle or will that be a deal-break for any school in particular?
It won't be a deal breaker... but there are plenty of ways to overcome this issue... mainly by digging into your background and seeing what you have, and making the best use of the little you DO have.

- My undergrad wasn't in the US and wasn't quant based. Is it possible to ride this as a differentiating factor rather than a weakness, i.e. academic diversity? I imagine Booth/Wharton wouldn't fall for that.

For the most part the AdComs know what is going on with schools. Meaning they know the difference between a 4.0 at prestigious schools and a 4.0 at a so-so school, they know which schools are the top, they know which schools give all As and which schools give none. So I don't know that there is much room for "fudging" things, although yes, you can and should always work to make your school seem impressive.
