MIT essays questions

by rrrhhh » Fri May 22, 2009 9:50 am
Hello VPs!!

I have a question regarding the temporal issues of the MIT essays.
MIT asks the applicants to use only facts of the last 3 years for their essays.
I would like to know how hard is that rule.

In one of the essays, my best shot is to describe a long process, that started in early 2006, and finished in late 2006. So, the first months of that process would be out of the 3 year limit by October of this year.

What do you think I should do? Should I stick to the rules and not use that process (look for another issue, although it would not be that good) or perhaps I can bend a little that rule?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

RH

I doubt a few months outside of three years would make a big difference especially since the relevant experience took place over most of the year. However, it never hurts to contact the admissions office directly to ask for clarification. My suggestion would be to call and ask.
