First and foremost, thank you for all the help that you provide to the struggling applicants such as myself

Will be applying for Fall 2010 entry (27 y/o upon matriculation)
Czech nationality (white male)

GMAT: 670 (Q42, V41)...I realize that my Q score is rather pathetic; however, I truly am horrible stand. test taker (this was my third attempt). I'm good with numbers; deal with bank packages & accounting statements on daily basis. My grades were always As or Bs in regard to statistics and finance courses during my undergrad.

GPA: 3.66 overall from good division II school, BBA in International Trade

Work Experience: 3 years working for government (non-profit org.) counseling small business owners. Top performer in our region, was offered director's position in one of the centers after 2 years.

Extracurricular: Plenty of community involvement (volunteer, coach, trainer, etc...). I acted in few short movies that received awards in independent movie festivals. I also teach thaiboxing classes and compete in martial arts. There's more to list.

I'm interested in finance, entrepreneurship or general mgmt. Based on your opinon, what are my chances of being accepted to the following full-time programs: McCombs and Johnson.

Also, would I even have a theoretical chance to gain admission to Stanford or Kellogg? Or that would be just a waste of time on my part?

Thank you very much

Hello,

I would consider Johnson to be a reasonable reach and Mccombs to be somewhere around on-par and reasonable reach. You have a definite weakness (GMAT) but also some definite strengths (very interesting and uncommon work and clearly strong performance), good extracurriculars, not a lot of people from Czech. Also the GPA though not great is solid.

Of course, the key is pulling all of the interesting material together in great essays to make it really work for you.

From the info provided I’d consider Stanford beyond reach and Kellogg almost beyond reach – maybe at the outer border of “reasonable reach”…

Good luck!

Best regards,
