Hello,

Any help from an advisor would be greatly appreciated. I studied abroad during my undergrad and completed 6 courses or 24 units. These classes are reflected on my transcript as P (Pass) since my university did not feel comfortable with faculty besides their own assigning grades to their students. My question is this: is this common? I do not want to raise any eyebrows during review of my application. I would really like to know if this is the case the majority of the time.

Thank you.

Dear lexcecile,

It is not uncommon to receive only a grade of Pass/Fail for courses taken in a study abroad program. While there are some variances, most schools choose to view courses taken abroad in this manner--you earn the credit, but not necessarily a grade that affects your GPA.

Good luck,
Lisa
