Gpa 3.22*
University: UOIT, Oshawa, Ontario.
Graduation: April 2010.

UOIT.
Expected date of graduation: April 2012

16 month internship at CAMI Automotive Inc. May 2008- August 2009
Actively assisted engineering team at CAMI Automotive Inc. in the launch of two new vehicles.
Lead the project on organization of tools and punches in stamping shop which helped company to save money and minimize downtime.

General Motors July 2010-March 2011
Production Supervisor

Lead a group of 40 people.
Started up a whole new shift and facilitated training for new employees, who were re-hired after 7 years.
I was able to develop excellent working relationship with everyone working for me and my supervisor while I was at GM which helped me in accomplishing my goals and build up one of the most effective teams in Chassis, General Motors.
Proposed and successfully implemented many changes in the jobs on line to minimize downtime and increase product, while improving quality.

BCA Construction

Project Manager/Estimator March 2011-Current

Prepare mechanical estimates and supervise site projects.

Random Note: When I was working at CAMI Automotive and General Motors, my supervisors consistently recommended me for being a hard working, committed individual and for smart ideas I brought to improve things.

Low GPA in undergrad: Worked part time during first two years of school.

Tough Engineering program based on projects. It made it hard to score well because scoring was solely based on success or failure of the projects.

Lastly,I finished the curriculum designed for 8 semesters in only 7 semesters.

I'd actually write finishing my degree in 7 semesters and working part time for 2 years of my undergrad degree as my strengths.

Thank you very much for looking at my post. Hope to get some feedback from you.

Hey CVS Mech:
Overall: Looking goooood. You have nice experience with serious leadership in a huge company with a professional masters. You have clear ambition and a clear upward trajectory

Pros: GMAT, Leading 40, GM, Professional Masters

Cons: Only one I can see is your GPA. And you have a good story as to why, so go with it.

Basically, you are good. Now you need to choose the right programs for you. with your leadership you can comfortably apply in the Top 15 range, although you may want to choose other programs as well which have good fit with your goals.

Hope this help!

Hey cvsmech - wow - amazing profile here! Even with the somewhat low GPA in college, you should be in very fine shape with this ... in a few years. Hate to say it but most bschools want to see some significant work experience before you tackle the MBA. The schools on your list are in this category. The other risk with this profile is that it could seem that you are "collecting degrees." While your educational background thus far is interesting and impressive, it could raise eyebrows that you want to go back to school again so soon. You'll need to take control of your messaging for the bschool apps and explain why you sought out your current Master's program, and why you now also need an MBA on top of that. This will mostly be answered through your positioning of post-MBA career goals. But honestly, you're likely to have a bit of a struggle in gaining admission to any of these schools without having more work experience under your belt; you've got less than a year at GM and that's just not enough, even if you were leading a group of 40.

So, sorry to say, we are not at all bullish on the plan of going sraight from UOIT to bschool next fall; we are guessing that the schools may balk at this, but of course there's lots of room for you to try and convince them as to your rationale!!!

If you want to fill us in more on your plans and reasons behind needing the MBA now, feel free! We're happy to answer additional questions if you have them.

Thanks a lot you guys! Appreciate your feedback.

Both of the replies talk about some strengths and weaknesses in my profile. I appreciate that both of you highlighted some weaknesses in profile, that's what I was wanting to hear about, so that I can work on weaknesses in my application.

@ Essaysnark and
@ Jon Frank

I've been working since I quit my job at GM. By Fall 2012, I'll have 26 months of full time experience. 9 Months at GM and 16 months at BCA construction Ltd as a project manager.

The reason I chose to do masters in engineering while working full time was that I wanted to figure out whether I'd like to advance in academics, get a doctorate. Over the past two years, while I was working full time and studying full time, I've realized that I want to stay and excel in my professional work rather than excelling in academics.

I've enjoyed my work as a Supervisor and as a project manager so far, so I'm looking for MBA programs that can prepare me for challenging leadership roles and programs that can help me move up the ladder in managerial roles.

Can you suggest me some programs and schools that fit my profile and requirements?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Aha cvsmech -- did not realize that you are doing school + work simultaneously. This is impressive! Shows you're a real go-getter. You'll need to make sure that this is clear on all your app components (the main career essay, the resume). The adcom reader should be made aware of this proactively, as it changes your story. In going back over your profile now, we see that you had listed the BCA job too, but we obviously overlooked it. These facts may be self-evident from how you will present your material but just a warning bout it, since it changes the picture pretty dramatically.

Still uncertain of your current career goals but the natural fit for you would be either MIT LGO or the Kellogg MMM. Those should be your first stops on the bschool research train.

Another obvious choice could be CMU Tepper. Or Stanford. But really would need to know more of your goals before suggesting further.

I ditto Essaysnark's choices there. Plus I'd add Haas, Stanford, Anderson into your mix of first schools to do some research on.
