Profile Evaluation

by spain55 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 4:47 am
I'm planning to apply Round 1 for Fall 2012 to the following schools: Northwestern, Harvard, UPenn, Berkeley, and Yale. I wanted to get your opinion on my profile and specifically, whether you would recommend retaking the GMAT.

- 26/hispanic/male
- 4 years work experience (finance - wall street)
- 3.95 undergrad gpa, finance major, top 3% of graduating class
- 650 gmat (45Q/35V) - so balanced scores. I just retook and was able to bring it up from a 600. My goal was a 680 minimum but fell short of it. Just not sure if the incremental benefit will outweigh the time and effort.

I would appreciate your insights. Thank you

Your first step should be to contact The Consortium. https://www.cgsm.org/ This outstanding organization is dedicated to getting more African-American, Native American and Hispanic students into top business schools. They provide significant guidance as well as scholarships.

Your GMAT is good, but not great, but your undergraduate record is terrific. There will be many applicants from Wall Street, so you will want to show how your experience is different from that of all the other applicants with Wall Street backgrounds. With the help of the Consortium you should have an excellent chance at admission to an outstanding school.

Good luck,
