Hello,
I am planning to apply to business schools to study MBA in Jan'12 or Sep'12, and could really use a few pointers on my chances. Any help would be very much appreciated.
My profile:
28 / Male / Bulgarian & British (dual citizenship)
GMAT:
710 (92%) (V42 (95%), Q45 (74%), 5.5 AWA); first attempt; studied 3-4 weeks in total;
GPA:
Undergrad: 2:1 Class (61%)
Postgrad: 1st Class, Distinction (72%)
Not sure what's the best way to convert those into US GPA, but undergrad GPA is probably a "B+" and postgrad is "A+".
Education:
Undergrad: Top 10 UK university, B.Sc. in Economics and Mathematics (double major), 2005, Honours
Postgrad: Manchester Business School, M.Sc. in International Business and Management, 2008; Top 5%, Graduated with Distinction
Work Experience:
Jul'05 - Sep'07: IBM UK - Graduate Business Consultant programme. Project management experience in IT projects.
Sep'08 - Present: Project management experience at a consultancy company. Focus in healthcare sector and informatics.
Extracurriculars:
Jan'10 - Present: Founded a charity - currently running a small charity which supports education in Bulgaria (turnover c. $15k); Leading more than 15 volunteers help run the charity and projects; Charity funded by donations and a small business.
Jan'10 - Present: Started a business - established a small online selling business (over eBay) with all profits going towards supporting the charity;
Sports: Gym, Rowing, Basketball - member of previous university teams/clubs;
Misc:
Born in Bulgaria, moved to UK when 16 years old
Languages: English (Fluent), Bulgarian (Native), French (Intermediate)
Specific Questions:
1. Chances of getting into a program in Jan'12/Sep'12 at the following schools:
a) INSEAD
b) London Business School
c) Harvard Business School
d) Columbia Business School
e) IE Business School
2. Suggestions to strengthen my application.
3. Should I retake my GMAT?
I only studied for about 3-4 weeks. Two of those weeks were about 2-3 hours a day after work. Used only two standard books. Feel like I may be able to score even higher if I put aside a couple of months for studying. Still, I am not sure how important a higher score is for me in view of my overall profile.
Thank you
