Letter of recommendation

by oct07 » Wed Dec 12, 2007 10:11 am
Hi,

I notice on the letter of recommendation, you have the right to see the evaluation after it has been completed or waive this right. Do you know whether it will affect anything if we reserve the right to see the form?

Thanks.

Hi oct07,

I think it's a minor issue, but on balance I would waive the right - to preserve your recommender's ability to be very honest. Most recommenders would not agree to write a letter unless they were planning to help you, and it's quite typical for recommenders to show you the letter before they submit also.

Good luck!
