Hi acme,

Thanks for your post! You certainly have unique and impressive experience to date. Your work experience is quite different from the average bschool applicant - most come from financial service, consulting or technology. This will certainly be a great strength given you'll fall into a much smaller pool of applicants.

Your GMAT score, while below average for the schools on your list, isn't that much of a concern. Your overall score is on par with the average scores from applicants in Mexico.

One thing you don't mention is your reason for wanting to go to bschool. Your post bschool goals are an important component in your school selection. Be sure that as you continue to research schools (Clear Admit has great school guides for this), that you look at not only their course offerings, but also at their career placement statistics. Be sure that companies you are interested in are hiring at the schools on your list.

Best,

Stacey

Stacey,

First of all I want to thank you for answering my post. :)

I was starting to believe it was going to be left unanswered forever.

As for why I want to pursue an MBA, well, here is why:

1. I still doubt whether I want to pursue a professional career at some company or eventually want to start up my own business. Either way life has taught me I have still a lot to learn and I feel this is the right moment to go back to a classroom.

2. I really enjoy what most of the MBA curriculum has to offer. From operations management to finance, going through organizational management.

3. These schools do not only offer me a top-notch education, but a very interesting network and an always-important global recognition.

So, do you think I have a shot at these programs?

Should I apply for other programs for the second round?

Once again thank you for your response!

Saludos!

Javier

Hi,

Thanks for the additional information. In regard to your goals, you will want to give a little more clarity around them. If bschools aren't convinced that you need an MBA (through your goals essay), they have an awful hard time offering you a spot in the class. I suggest you settle on a path you find interesting. Remember, you need not actually pursue that path after graduation, but you do need a solid plan to get admitted.

I do suggest applying to a couple lower ranked schools in round 2. You certainly need not attend them if admitted, but at least it would give you more options.

Best,

Stacey
