Hi,

I took a break for an year post high-school to prepare for undergraduate engineering entrance exams. Should I include this information in the optional essays ? I do not any break in my professional career however.

Thanx,
Rahul

Hello, Rahul,

In that case it is not necessary technically -- you should always address breaks in college/university studies and/or in employment. What you describe is not technically a break in education so you would not have to explain it. On the other hand it may be worthwhile to discuss it if it fits into your story overall for some particular reason. For example, if during that year you also did some other things that were important for your development or contributed a lot to the community, you might want to discuss that year holistically.
