Question on Work Experience-Functional Area in Applicantion

Indian Male 25.

My question is will i have a better chance if my latest work experience is in non IT,Engineering Background as opposed to in Supply Chain Management


Will it be detrimental to my application if i am having a supply chain work experience and looking to apply for a management consulting MBA.

Keeping in consideration other factors such as GMAT 650, GPA Average, Managerial Experience 2 years Engineering.

Hello,

Supply chain is a very important area of business and significant experience in it can benefit the application. I can't tell whether it would be better than non-IT engineering work, however, because it depends on what type of engineering work, in what context, etc. There is no one answer for which type of work would be better. Fundamentally it depends on which is most relevant to your goals, and in which will you have the more significant opportunities for leadership and growth.

Supply chain experience can be valuable for a business consulting career if you will be consulting in industries/sectors where SCM is relevant.
