Transcripts

by raj22 » Thu Aug 05, 2010 1:50 pm
Guys

I'm a little confused about this topic and read through multiple threads but there's no clear answer

I did my undergrad from India but have been based in the states for the last 8 years. Getting transcripts from any university in India isn't an easy task. I'm going to start applying to schools for the first round in Oct and do have the original degree certificate and mark sheet in my possession

Q: Do I need transcripts (sealed envelopes with your marks) from the university at the application stage or are these requested only at the interviewing or when you are finally accepted? I know there's no single answer as different universities have varying policies but would like to hear about what the top 5-10 usually demand

Thank you all!

Hi,

Thanks for your post. You ask a very good question. In most cases you don't need original transcripts upon submitting your application, but rather just a self reported transcript. I urge you to be cautious and be sure you put the exact grade you earned in each course and don't guess - I've known admitted students to have their admissions offer revoked for discrepancies in reporting their grades. Some programs don't require official transcripts until admission, while others such as Sloan require them at the time of interview. I'd check each schools requirements ahead of time just to be safe.

Regards,

Stacey

Thx for the quick response Stacy

Thanks for your quick response. Do you know which transcripts are usually required. You are probably aware that in India, most people go through 10 years school and 5 or 6 years for undergrad degree depending on if it's commerce or engineering

Do I need only undergrad degree starting with my 11th year of education?

Hi,

You should only need your undergrad degree transcript.
