- GMAT Score:710
Hi everybody,
Just to start off with a side note: I just took my GMAT a couple months ago and got some great stuff out of the boards (thanks everyone!).
I'd love to get everyone's opinion on my question here
So originally I was going to apply to start during the Fall 2012. But due to some new circumstances I would prefer to start 2011. However, my biggest reservation is that my work experience seems rather light compared against the average profile.
My Profile:
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Current City: Austin, TX
Nationality: Chinese (Born in the US)
GMAT: 710 (Q48, V40, AWA:6)
GPA: 3.84 - Marketing [Chinese Minor] (Top 10 Business Undergrad)
Full Time Work Experience: 2 years
Industry: High Tech (Fortune 50)
Job Function(s): Marketing/Operations
In undergrad I was consistently involved in 3 organizations and held varying leadership positions through my 4-years, I also worked as a student career advisor in our business school. I play piano, violin, drums (if this helps with my story) and have been involved in volunteering/serving the community since graduating (through my Church, and going through other organizations).
I currently live in Texas so UT is a great option (plus I'd get in-state tuition!) but my target schools are Berkeley, Chicago, and NYU. UCLA is definitely a consideration as well. My GMAT score is right at the average for a top tier school, and my GPA is very strong compared to the typical profile for their current MBA classes, but conversely my work experience is 2-3 years less than the average.
What do you think my chances are for my target schools given that I'd only have about 2.5 years of experience at the time of application submission?
Would waiting one more year significantly increase my chances?
What actions do you think I should take to improve my profile as an applicant?
I'm really grateful there are resources like beatthegmat out there. Thanks a bunch in advance everyone!
Eric
