How often to take GMAT

by Niner710 » Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:29 am
Hi,

I have a few questions on taking the GMAT.

1) I am hoping to only take the GMAT once but plan on taking it twice as backup. If I take the GMAT on Nov. 30th does that mean I have to wait until Dec. 30th to take it again? I saw that you can only take it once a month. Does that mean I have to wait 30 days or can I take the GMAT once in end of Nov, and once in beg of Dec?

2) If I have a deadline for applications in end of Dec., does that mean I can submit my application and then take the GMAT a week after the app is due?

Thanks for any feedback.

Dear Niner,

You can only take the GMAT once every 31 days and only 5 times in a year. So, that would mean you could not retake the exam until after Dec. 30. Most schools will expect you to have your GMAT score at the time you apply. Whether or not they will allow you to take the GMAT after the deadline and still be included in that round is up to the school and something you should therefore verify with each program.

Good luck,
Lisa
