by bssb » Sun Feb 22, 2015 9:41 am
Can anyone tell me how's the admission process for MIM/CEMS?
I am in my final year and will be applying next year. Few things I would like to know:-

1) average GMAT score
2) TOEFL/IELTS - which one would be better?
3) Work experience (how can I improve my profile)

Thank you

Hi,

The first step for you is to appear for GMAT and target to get 700+ score. Average GMAT score varies from 660 -730 depending on ranking of B-schools. For MIM programs you can also apply as fresher, any work experience after undergrads will add value to your profile. Also mention more about your academics, extra curricular activities, achievements, awards and recognition won, these will help us to assess your profile and suggest.

Hey Bsb,

First of all CEMS is an exchange program in which European colleges participate, students can usually opt for it in their 2nd year. There is no specific admission procedure for that. You apply into it only when you are studying at a MiM college.

Secondly, you may not even need to give the TOEFL or the IELTS, it may be a requirement in the UK or Germany. But in countries such as France, Spain etc it is not required. Just a good GMAT score is enough.
So check up on your target universities if you even need a TOEFL score.

Third, there is no avg GMAT score and it varies depending upon the level of universities you are applying to. For tier 1 universities (HEC, LBS, ESCP, RSM) you have to aim for a score above 680.
For lower ranked universities a score above 650 gives you a fighting chance.

Lastly, for improving your profile, well you can join a NGO, join an association, organize some fest, play team sports, join toastmasters or rotary club. There are endless possibilities. It all boils down to how you explain these activities in your essays.

Hope the answer helped.
